Hammo still scrawling on walls...Communication lines to the South restored, Hammo continues to leave his mark on the other side of the world with a series of proper massive drawings, this time in The Loft in Hobart. OHD has had word that Hammo will return to colder shores around Christmas time, and we cant wait, seriously!! 02 Nov 2007
![]() ![]() ![]() Heading to CasVegas tonight? We sure hope so, as its the latest installment of SnoStorm, the Halloween edition! 22 Oct 2007
You know the drill by now, Damo and the crew provide you with the finest on-slope entertainment in the form of a sick park, and also off the slope with plenty to keep you entertained in Rockies Snobar and the newly opened 50-50. Get your hands on one of the latest in the series of limited edition SnoStorm tees, designed by Hammo, produced in association with the one and only OHD, you love it! ![]() More success for Mr RussellNot content with taking the top prize at the recent slopestyle indoor comp at Castleford, Jon Russell returned to bag third place at the Burton Scrap Metal event at Cas on Saturday 20th October. This despite falling in the final, in the midst of a super-tech run, well thats what he claims... 08 Oct 2007
Jon wishes to point out that his prize is up for sale (as its hideous) so anyone wishing to look like a space-man with style(?) should get in touch and try to prise the Analog coat in question from his hands, for the right price of course. Whilst OHD are stoked that he's winning all this stuff, we'd like to make it clear that THIS WILL NOT RESULT IN ANY EXTRA FREE STUFF FROM US, so quit your whining and make sure you come first next time, ok?! could it be?sketchy rumours reach us at OHD HQ that our very own Jon Russell may well have taken first place in this weekends renamed Aim series at Castleford, details to follow hopefully, but for now, bow down and show some respect to the man who in his own words, is "the champion of the world within British domes at a very specific apsect of the sport". Couldnt have put it better myself... 01 Oct 2007
stolen from www.britishsnowtour.com: Regarded as the jewel in the freestyle crown, the men’s competition was hotly contested, with only decimal points separating the top podium spots. Johnny Russell, who thanks to Jeremy Sladen was able to cut his afternoon shift at the TSA shop short, was throwing down some 90’s pop star inspired manoeuvres a “Jackson” (50-50 on your toe edge) to frontside boardslide on the kinked rail and a huge 50-50 on the top of the wall ride, which literally was “off the wall” to take the 2007 Animal Slopestyle Championship title. Jamie Nicholls who was riding super strong all day, came in a very close second after a textbook run including, a 270 on 450 off on the top box, a smooth 270 onto the wall ride and 270 on 270 off along the C box. Third place went to Steve Revill who impressed all with a wrong way 270 onto the top rail, gap to frontside boardslide on the kinked rail and a big stylish frontside wallride to 180 out, finishing off with a switch noseslide to boardslide on the bottom rail. Animal British Snowboard Slopestyle Championship Results Men 1st - Johnny Russell, Sheffield 2nd - Jamie Nicholls - Bradford 3rd - Steve Revill, Milton Keynes Women 1st - Laura Berry, Milton Keynes 2nd - Laura Hill, Leeds 3rd - Gemma Marshall, Sheffield konnichiwa Hammo!News filtered through the chicken wire that Hammo has been visiting Japan, helping to promote the good name of OHD and generally do a bit of constructive littering! Hopefully gaining inspiration for the latest OHD threads during the trip, Hammo is pleased to report he met a real life Abtomat, and possibly the real Elvis? 19 Sep 2007
![]() ![]() ![]() Hungerpain presents 'Otium' in association with OHD...Cementing a solid relationship with the Hungerpain crew, OHD are yet again sponsoring this years film offering, entitled Otium. ![]() BUSC Fistfull of Dollar$ in Bristol goes OFF!!Last weekend saw the British Universities Snowsports Club take over the Cannonmarsh Amphitheatre in Bristol to put on a rail jam for all-comers, basically those brave enough to tackle the down rail that had been custom built to fit the steps. OHD rolled down there courtesy of the now legendary TSA party bus, which also brought down team members Jon Russell and Matt Leigh, as well as StandingSideways very own Mr Doyle and the North's finest rail slayer Rick Barrow. 17 Aug 2007
After arriving early and finding ourselves at the mercy of the rain, a lot of shovelling commenced to ensure the run-in and landing areas were shaped before the snow (courtesy of Sno!zone) melted. Around 7pm this thing was ready to kick off and the riders scrambled to get a place on the steps which rose up to the drop-in. After a few test runs the riders really started to push themselves, and the dollar$ began to flow as a reward for super smooth or tech tricks, or sometimes just for a hefty slam! Some banging beats from The Urban Knights kept the crowd and the waiting riders entertained, and were accompanied by some fine B-Boy action down by the side of the rail. Making it through to the final on the snowboard side were Sam Cullum, Mike Austin, and three of the party bus entourage, Rick Barrow, Matt Leigh and Jon Russell. The final sadly was cut short to just two runs each which meant the riders taking big gambles on what trick they thought may win it (and the £100 up for grabs) and led to a few missed landings for some. Eventually Mike Austin took home the big prize, with Rick, Matt and Jon finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Perhaps at this point we should mention the lack of prizes for the placed riders, but that would just be being picky, so we'll complain instead about the after-party, which barely seemed to exist!! Small matter as we soon found a bar with some super strong pear cider and the night soon ended in a haze of take-aways and smoke rings..... Thanks to everyone who helped to put on this event, including Sno!zone for the real thing and a man named Ellis for our excellent transport!! We hope to have some pictures soon from the lens of Dave F, but dont hold your breath! For now check this link - http://www.fearofthepark.co.uk/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=124 STANDINGsideways Invitational 2 with SNO!zone and TSA.![]() The events and tricks from the second STANDINGsideways Invitational have now been performed and recorded to digital memory, joining the first event in becoming a fond recollection in the minds of those present at SNO!zone Castleford on Saturday 4th August. The second after hours session, conceived to push the level of UK park riding, saw a team of UK pros step-up their game and hit an 18ft long up-box, angled to end at a height of 12ft and send them over a gap of 16ft to the landing. Another first for any UK slope! Damian Doyle, the man behind the STANDINGsideways Invitationals, spoke about the feature. “The idea had been talked about at the previous session. We had a 24ft gap to box that worked out so well and we were stood looking at it thinking it’d be perfect to hit the other way round. The opportunity came up so we decided to make it happen.” A finely sculpted gap kicker had been built by the CASvegas SNO!park crew and drawn plans could be made reality. After consultation with the riders, adjustments to the angle of the up-box, and a few tweaks with the piste basher, the feature was complete and left for the box to set in place, teasing everyone with it’s dominant presence. Riders in attendance for the session were UK pros Colum Mytton, Charlie Clark, Jonny Russell, Si Foster, Monkey Stu Horsham and Rick Barrow, who declared himself test pilot and stomped the first 50-50 to backside shifty off, beginning an intense session that lasted into the early hours of the morning. ![]() Rome’s Rick, voted ‘rider of the night’ by fellow snowboarders, was amped after putting down a variety of tricks and stepping up to some switch action [wait for the film for specifics!]. “I hadn’t rode for ages so was stoked to get the call from Damo saying the session was on. I had some tricks set in mind and was just happy to get everything I’d thought about on the drive over. It was just good to be with everyone and get motivated seeing all the other riders killing it.” Like a piece of Banksy artwork, the set-up that was lovingly created on a secret mission has now been destroyed. Full images won’t be revealed until the release of the new TSA film in October 2007. A definitive UK movie from STANDINGsideways, showing the world that the UK dryslope and indoor scenes have most hardcore scenes anywhere. Keep your eyes open for future releases from the STANDINGsideways Invitationals with SNO!zone and TSA. ![]() Big thanks to Pete Wood for the images! quick reminder, Summer Jammin at MK this weekend!Dont forget to head down to MK on the 18th (this Saturday) for the ATV/FBBB collaboration Summer Jammin', bringing you an evening of entertainment in the newly refurbished bar, as well as a super sick slope set-up courtesy of the ATV crew. OHD are proud to support this banger of an event, get your grabbin' mitts on and hold tight for the throwouts! Be sure to look out for follow up events later in the year, hopefully a bit further North!!! 11 Aug 2007
![]() the amazing re-appearing news story, re-appears!Hey Hey! Last weekend saw the one and only Sno-Storm take place up at CasVegas, with the by now legendary park set-up courtesy of Damian Doyle and the park team. Mixing the usual blend of on and off slope action, the residents of the sno-bar were kept entertained by the seriously LOUD tones of Mishkin and Middleman, while slope-side the riders were spoilt with a choice of two 4 hit rail lines, or for the rock star riders there was a huge booter to spin off. A mixture of heavily technical jib action on the boxes and rails, combined with some nice 5's and 7's coming from the kicker, meant that the viewing public in the bar were entertained all night. Those with a keen eye would have witnessed OHD's very own Lucy Butler slaying the S-box in style with this Switch Fronstside Boardslide, rip it Butler!!!!! 31 Jul 2007
![]() many thanks to Jools Smith for the image! dont forget Sno-Storm is now a monthly affair, taking it in turns to rotate between Braehead, MK and CasVegas! OHD taking it down, North of the border...News reached us yesterday of another success for one of OHD's uk riders, Jon Russell. He took home an impressive third place after qualifying for the Big Air super-final at the Bearsden leg of the Sno-flex championships this weekend. Switch spins were the order of the day, with Jon just missing his grab in the final and ending up third. No matter, cos with top honours going to our good buddy Col Mytton, there were still plenty of smiles all round in the TSA fun-bus afterwards.... 10 Jul 2007
Damo Doyle was also present, ensuring yet more dope footage was canned for this years StandingSideways/TSA collaboration, keep 'em peeled for the release date coming soon... Merida success for DLB!Congratulations to OHD's good buddy Dan Bevan for his super-human efforts while completing the 77km Merida MTB marathon in Builth Wells on Sunday 8th July. Dan did a fine job in the saddle, representing for OHD and of course DLB Joinery in a one-off riding jersey produced for the event! 09 Jul 2007
check out his grimace tailing Jim 'Buff-man' Lee in the picture below (bike 1128) GO BEVAN!!! ![]() (thanks to Roy at EnduroEvents for the picture) Heads up for the next Sno-storm event!3rd of August is the next installment of the self-proclaimed 'king of the UK events' up at CasVegas. Head for J32 of the M62 if you fancy being entertained by some serious on-slope action as well as live music and DJ's in the bar! OHD's very own Damian Doyle will once again be charged with providing the best park you can ride on home shores, so get along and show your support for the UK scene! 27 Jun 2007

Hammo's back from Hobart!! Yes, it may seem like an enternity since he left, but OHD's creative backbone casually strolled into town earlier this week as if he'd simply been out to the shop for a pint of milk, nice move sucker, and good to see you buddy! it is too...![]() I was wandering through Melbourne the other week and saw a couple of illustrations I submitted to Is Not magazine ages ago, which was a nice surprise. Here's one of them. But if I'd have known they were going to print a 4 metre high version I'd have done something better. http://www.isnotmagazine.org/ hammover and out. first STANDINGsideways Invitational goes off...Friday 27th April saw the first of many SS sessions planned for this summer, with the aim of capturing some of the best UK riding for Damian Doyles latest film release, this time around in conjunction with TSA. After hours at the Castleford Sno-zone, a massive gap kicker was put in place, with the addition of a slide box on the landing. Let me assure you kids, it was massive! Riders stepping up for the session were UK pros Charlie Clark, Rick Barrow, Colum Mytton, Jamie Nicholls, Jonny Russell, Si Foster, Laura Hill and Tom Wood. 25 Apr 2007
OHD has been sworn to secrecy regarding the sick stuff that was thrown down last night (the session went on after 4am!) hell we cant even show you the best shots that snapper Pete Wood captured, but rest assured when the film does come out, you'll be saying "holy shit" or other such profanities! By special permission, heres a shot of Laura Hill doing what most of us don't have the balls to... ![]() Out of actionI'm back in the land of Whiskey and Irn Bru now. Had knee surgery about 6 weeks ago and my new acl should be ready for next winter. I'm involved in a new company producing short-films about snowboarding and general shinanigans. Check out www.nothingbynoone.com 22 Apr 2007
I've also discovered that walking about on crutches with a dog in your pocket is probably the easiest way to get sympathy in the world. Please someone hit the summer button.
